Biography
Lisa Marie Presley was born on Feb. 1,
1968. Nine months
to the day of
her parents wedding. She is the only child of Elvis and Priscilla
Presley. Even before she was born, she was known and loved the world
over. Feb.1, was the day the little princess graced us with her
presence. Her parents were overjoyed and adored their little Lisa Marie.
Lisa lived a very sheltered life. The Presley's carefully watched over
their bundle of joy and showered her with love and gifts.
As she grew up, Lisa became aware of her
father's emense popularity.
She understood that when Elvis was around, things got done. She adopted
this attitude and ran Graceland as the princess of the mansion. She
would have the staff and everyone around her fulfilling every wish, yet
her mother Priscilla, struggled to have Lisa grow up in a "normal"
atmospher. How can you have a normal upbringing when you're the
daughter of the greatest entertainer on Earth? Well, it wasn't easy
according to Priscilla.
She lived at Graceland from 1968 to 1972. At the age of 4, her parents
divorced so Lisa lived at Graceland some of the time and ran the house,
and the other times, she lived with Priscilla who was strict and had
Lisa on a schedule. She said it was tough to go from total freedom with
her father, to having a set time to go by with her mother. Priscilla
made sure that Lisa had some kind of structure in her life, while with
Elvis it was all fun and games!
After the divorce, Lisa mostly lived with her mother in LA. She would
see her father as much as she could. He would have a car to pick her up
and take her to see Elvis anytime he could. Elvis and Lisa adored
eachother and had a very close relationship. To everyone's extreme
shock and sadness, on one of her visits to Graceland (Aug. 16, 1977)
Elvis passed away. She was only 9 years old at the time. It's safe to
say that Lisa carries her father's memory with her to this day. She
even wrote a song for him, but we'll get to that later.
In 1979, Lisa felt another death. Her grandfather, Vernon (Elvis'
father) whom she loved dearly. This was a very harsh thing for a child
so young to lose two very strong men in her life that she loved so
much.
She was 11.
The 1980's were Lisa's teen years. Priscilla stated on many occasions
that when Lisa turned 13, she became a different child. Lisa was
hanging out with the wrong crowd and doing things she shouldn't have.
Priscilla put her in different schools through the years to try to get
Lisa interested in something. She found out at a very young age that
she liked to write poems and little stories. Lisa would often lock
herself in her room and listen to records, and singing into a
hairbrush. A hint of things to come!
Lisa was an average student. She didn't like school and she was a very
shy person, who didn't make friends easily. Lisa would surround herself
with people that weren't the right influence for her. She struggled to
stay focused on school. Frustrated with it, she dropped out in the 11th
grade.
At her wits end, Priscilla decided to
put Lisa in a Scientology based
school that would teach Lisa self help and discipline. There, she met
her future husband. His name is Danny Keough. He was a musician in a
band called D-Bat. He was young and sexy and Lisa fell for him hard.
They married October 3, 1988. They were married 6 years and had 2
children together. Danielle Riley and Benjamin Storm. Lisa and Danny
divorced in 1994 but has remained best friends.
January 8, 1993 Lisa attended an Elvis stamp celebration. This was the
first time she made an appearance on behalf of her father. She shied
away from talking about him, giving any kind of interviews up to
now, so this was a major event!
After the divorce of her first husband Danny, she married Michael
Jackson. They were friends prior to this marriage. She and MJ would
make a lot of public appearances together and even did an interview
with Diane Sawyer. The couple were married for a year and a half. It
produced no children.
Since her second divorce, Lisa was on the cover of Vogue magazine and
really getting out there, showing that there's another side of this shy
princess. She showed up for music awards, opened an Elvis themed
restaraunt with her mom, helped open a Scientology Center in Memphis
and many other things. The most important thing she did to date was the
20th anniversary of her father's death. It was Lisa's singing debut!
She did an Elvis tune with him via video. The song was "Don't Cry
Daddy" and the place went wild. It was met with thunderous applause and
many tears shed by very appreciative fans. Will Lisa sing or put out an
album? Nobody knew at this point but there definately was something
there to hint to it.
It was true!!! Lisa will sing!!! She signed a contract with Java
Records in June of 1998. We wouldn't see a record produced though until
April,2003. It was definately worth the wait!
Feb. 1, 2000 Lisa turned 33 and had a new boyfriend named John Oszajca.
He was 25 at the time and they were engaged to be married. They were at
a party for a mutual friend when all of sudden, she meets actor,
Nicolas Cage. She broke up with John and started dating Nick. This
month too was the birth of her new Official site.
Lisa is very passionate about the causes she believes in. One that's
close to her heart is a project called, "Presley Place". It's helping
families get back on their feet. It houses families for a year. Helps
them find jobs and really helps in making people's lives better. Lisa
Marie funded this project and was there to open to the apartments July
10, 2001.
2002, looked to be a good year for Lisa. She and Nicolas married on
Aug. 12, but divorced after only 3 months of marriage. During their
marriage, Nic accompanied her to the 25th anniversary of Elvis' death
and had the surprise of a lifetime. Lisa was finished her cd and let
the fans have a taste of what was to come...Lisa wrote a song for her
father, called "Nobody Noticed It". Again it was met with tears and a
standing ovation.
2003 was even better. January 2003 More talk about Lisa's cd . Lisa
turns 35 on the feb.1st. Starts her radio campaign to promote her cd,
Feb. 26 the premiere of Lisa's first video "Lights Out" was shown
on VH1! March she did interviews and t.v. shows, also on the cover of
Rolling Stone, April 3 Lisa was on Good Morning America, April 8 "To
Whom It May Concern" was FINALLY released! Not long after the release
of her first cd, it went GOLD!
2004 Lisa was riding on the success of her first album, working the
talk show circut, doing concerts and just rocking us out!!!
2005, her second cd came out. It's called, "Now What". The critics were
very nice about both cds and notes her as a good artist and song writer
in
her own right. Lisa has proven time and time again that she's more than
her last name. She's an incredible person, mother, daughter, owner of
EPE, song writer, entertainer and humanitarian. She is all that and
does it all!!
2006 I'm happy to say that in Jan. she married her soulmate and
bandmate Michael Lockwood. They've been traveling, enjoying married
life. Lisa contractually has 1 more cd to make for Capital records,
then the sky's the limit! As for the future of Lisa Marie Presley, only
she knows and when she's ready, she'll let us know too. STAY TUNED!
